PARKVIEW'S SUMMER SERMON SERIES
CRISIS OF FAITH: “I believe, BUT…”
For the last 10 weeks, we have been on a journey…learning together “How to Follow Jesus”. Many have shared how they have committed to the spiritual practices of Jesus and have grown in their relationship with God and each other. It’s been my prayer, that as a church, we will continue to take these lifelong spiritual steps of following Jesus and growing together in God’s love for each other and the world for which He died and rose again!
One of the great illusions even among church people is that once someone commits to following Jesus, all their problems, disappointments, struggles, and temptations will just vanish into thin air, but I can assure you, that is not the case. In fact, most often, you will read in God’s Word that because someone was a follower of Jesus, they actually went through the greatest tests, temptations and even suffering which oftentimes led to a crisis of faith! During our new summer series, we’re going to see that certain expectations (or should I say “unmet expectations” of God) can actually cause a crisis of belief in how we perceive WhoGod is and What God should be doing for us. We will take a hard look at some of these expectations and the crossroads of belief when God doesn’t do what we want Him to do for us and what it means to trust in God even when my prayers aren’t answered the way we want God to answer them.
Now, don’t worry…we’ll be providing some follow-up material as well for deeper study with a spiritual running partner…so if you don’t have someone to discuss the notes with…let me encourage you to join a GROWTH GROUP…it’s where a lot of us have found a friend to grow spiritually with together!
In week 7, we’ll be leading up a to real life crisis of faith in the true-life story of Christian music artist Jeremy Camp and his journey of love and loss that looks to prove there is always hope! Then on Sunday night, August 29th you’re invited to see the movie: I STILL BELIEVE! It’s is a powerful reminder that in life’s storms, true hope can be found because is God is available to us, which is especially important in our suffering. This special event will be a great opportunity to invite someone to see an encouraging movie about the power of Love, how Love can change one life, and how one life can change the world!
Don’t Miss it!
Blessings! -Pastor Doug
